Our Team

Mr. Gihan Pilapitiya is a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree holder of the prestigious University of Colombo. Having taken Oaths as Attorney-at-Law in 1998, he had directly joined the Attorney General’s Department as a State Counsel in the year 1999 for a period of four years (1999-2003). He had then joined the judiciary as a Magistrate in January 2003 and thereupon was promoted to the Post of District Judge. Mr Gihan Pilapitiya was then appointed as High Court Judge in Embilipitiya, Kandy as well as Kuliyapitiya which fulfills a period of service of 20 years in the official Bar (Attorney General’s Department) and in the judiciary. Consequently, he obtained a Secondment as the Public Trustee of Sri Lanka and is currently active in his position.

Mrs G.B. Karawita is a senior Attorney- at-Law and was appointed to the post of Deputy Public Trustee of Public Trustee Department of the Ministry of Justice in October 2017. Mrs. Karawita has held a senior position as HR/Legal Manager of Ceylon Steel Corporation Oruwala Athurugiriya of Onex Group of Companies in United Arab Emirates. Mrs Karavita holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) awarded by the University of Colombo. Mrs.G.B. Karawita holds the position of Deputy Public Trustee under the Ministry of Buddhashasana, religious and cultural affairs at present.

Mr K.D.P.T Karunaratne is a senior Attorney- at-Law and was appointed to the post of Deputy Public Trustee of Public Trustee Department of the Ministry of Justice in October 2017. Mr. Karunarathna holds the position of Deputy Public Trustee under the Ministry of Buddhashasana, religious and cultural affairs at present and holds a Master’s degree awarded by the University of Colombo.
